12 Angry Men

12 Angry Men by Reginald Rose is an engaging and thought provoking movie or play that gives us an excellent peek into human nature and how one person can make a difference.

By the end, we are left with questions about justice and reasonable doubt. Students are challenged to come up with their own conclusions.

Here is a copy of the play.

Here is more information about the movie.

I have included two handouts here - they could be used with the play or the movie. One Christian based, and one non-Christian based. They each have literary analysis, critical thinking along with extension activities and essay prompts. I have included a rubric for assessment.

I have also included the questions for a Movies for Learning session that you could lead with your students. They will look at many aspects of justice and the motivation of the jurors. They may end the study with more questions to think about!

Movies for Learning questions give students an opportunity to collaborate together in their analysis of the movie, sharing documents in groups or an entire class.

I hope that you enjoy exploring 12 Angry Men!

Blessings,

Natalie
